Romano responded to recent links concerning top European sides actively monitoring Silva as well as Benfica colleagues Goncalo Ramos and Florentino Luis in his exclusive CaughtOffside column ‘the Daily Briefing’
There appear to be officials from large clubs always keeping tabs on Benfica’s key players, and Silva appears to be one to keep an eye on in this summer’s transfer market.
Football Transfers has connected the talented young center-back with Liverpool, while in-form striker Ramos has also been watched by Manchester United.
“About eight to ten clubs are usually present at Benfica to keep an eye on Antonio Silva, Goncalo Ramos, and Florentino Luis,” Romano explained.
“They have excellent players, so it’s completely natural. Nothing is concrete at this time, but I’d keep an eye on Silva throughout the summer in case of major ideas.”
Liverpool would be wise to sign a talent like Silva as a long-term replacement for the aging Virgil van Dijk.
According to Christian Falk’s CaughtOffside column, another excellent young defender being linked with LFC is Josko Gvardiol.
