Despite designating him as their top target, Liverpool won’t meet the player’s price

Enzo Fernandez, who is wanted by Chelsea, is Liverpool’s top target, but the Reds are unwilling to fulfill Benfica’s €120 million buy-out clause for the midfielder

Chelsea is hoping to entice the midfielder away from Benfica during the winter transfer window, calling the midfielder’s future into question.

Chelsea is willing to pay more than the €120 million release clause if the deal is arranged with favorable payment terms.

Benfica’s insistence on getting the full buy-out clause price has turned off at least one of his previous suitors.

According to the Greek newspaper Sportime, Fernandez is Liverpool’s key midfield target, and the club is eager to sign him.

Their connection with Benfica, where they obtained Darwin Nunez during the previous summer’s transfer window, is also positive.

However, because the Reds do not want to pay the €120 million buy-out clause, it is unlikely that they will be able to sign him.

The Portuguese behemoths are under no pressure to sell for less because Benfica is likely to earn the same, if not more, than the asking price.

Although it is unknown whether Manchester United has the funds to complete such a transaction, the club is interested in the player.
