Jamie Carragher tweeted in response to Liverpool’s declaration that Michael Laffey has agreed to a professional deal at Anfield.

After excelling for Liverpool’s Under-18 team, the 17-year-old has been rewarded with a professional contract.

Laffey, a Reds center midfielder, has played nine Under-18 Premier League games this season, scoring two goals to help Liverpool finish fourth in the table.

Earlier this season, the teenager scored in a 4-2 victory over Manchester United’s Under-18 team before scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Blackburn’s young guns.

Carragher tweeted after learning the news, “Great prospect! Keep up the good work, Laffey.”

Laffey has been with Liverpool since he was a child, having previously played for Merseyside rivals Everton.

Liverpool stated in their official release that the Merseyside-born prodigy is a set-piece expert who frequently takes freekicks and corners for the Under-18 team.

Laffey is also claimed to have a “strong range of passing and outstanding awareness,” as well as the ability to “bind his squad together in the centre of the field, get on the ball, and impose a tempo on the game” – impressive stuff.

LIVERPOOL FANS SHOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT LAFFEY.

Based on the jewels that have emerged from Kirkby in recent decades, we see no reason why Liverpool fans shouldn’t be enthused about Laffey, especially with Jürgen Klopp in charge until at least 2026.

To mention a few, the German has oversaw the growth of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Neco Williams, Ben Doak, and Mateusz Musialowski.

Klopp also nurtured a number of gems at Borussia Dortmund, delivering a major opportunity to Christian Pulisic while also turning Mario Götze into a superstar.

Keep an eye on Laffey, as he could make his first-team debut shortly if his recent performances continue.

Jamie Carragher calls Liverpool’s ’embarrassing’ signing a “waste of money.”

‘Waste of money’ says Jamie Carragher of Liverpool’s ’embarrassing’ signing.

The importance of Liverpool’s midfield woes this season cannot be overstated.

Jurgen Klopp and his team will have to use their time and resources wisely once the summer window opens.

To the chagrin of the Anfield faithful, the club’s long-running pursuit of Jude Bellingham recently came to an end.

With Carragher announcing the need to sign three midfielders over the next 12 months at the end of last season, it’s time to turn their attention to cheaper alternatives to the English teen.

Their transfer incompetence has been thrashed by supporters, and now Champions League winner Carragher has chastised the club for appearing ‘weak’ and ‘negligent’.

Jamie Carragher’s thoughts on Arthur Melo

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher wrote for The Telegraph about how fans feel misled following their club’s withdrawal from their long-running Bellingham pursuit.

Liverpool will need ready-made reinforcements this summer if they are to regain their title-challenging form, which has been lacking this season.

Despite their interest in Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni, Liverpool must have been aware of the urgent need for a midfield renewal, according to his comments.

Arthur Melo, a last-minute loan signing by Klopp Carragher has called a “embarrassing climbdown” and a “waste of money,” enters the picture at this point.

“That is [Klopp’s] biggest mistake on this issue and he knows it,” Carragher wrote for The Telegraph. “The big giveaway that he realised his error in not recruiting before the last pre-season was the last-minute scramble for Arthur Melo on the final day of last August’s transfer window.”

Liverpool, a team based in Anfield, justified their financial outlay as a means of buying time while searching for a longer-term, world-beating midfielder.

“That deal was a money-wasting climbdown and embarrassing. Liverpool was waiting for the longer-term goal, which was the justification at the time.
