Chelsea is now focusing on a surprise Sadio Mane deal, according to sources

Chelsea are considering a shock move for Liverpool legend Sadio Mane after his Bayern Munich transfer fell through, according to Football Insider.

This summer, the west Londoners are looking for a new forward but are limited by financial fair play regulations and a lack of top-class and potentially available number nines in the world.

Chelsea has come under fire for spending nearly £600 million on new signings since Todd Boehly’s takeover last summer.

Those close to the club, however, point out the difficulty in locating marquee strikers of the appropriate age and profile.

That is partly what prompted them to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last summer in a deal that has yet to materialize.

Mane is now thought to be on Chelsea’s radar following a miserable season at Bayern, which is expected to end with a summer transfer.

Because of his much-publicized altercation with Leroy Sane in the dressing room, the German giants will listen to offers for him this summer, and a return to the Premier League is a strong possibility.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have no plans to re-sign the club legend because their priority is to strengthen in midfield and defense.

Chelsea will consider luring Mane away from Bayern Munich, who want to recoup the majority of the £27m (£35m with add-ons) paid to Liverpool last summer.

Mane, who turned 31 last week, is two years younger than Aubameyang and can play in a variety of forward positions, including center-forward and left flank.

He made 269 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 120 goals and providing 49 assists across all competitions, and left his fans wanting more after leaving on the heels of arguably his best season at the club.

Mane scored 23 goals last season, and he was especially impressive in the final months of the season in a new center-forward role as Klopp’s team chased the quadruple.

In Germany, he had 11 goals by October but has not scored since, and his career hit rock bottom when he punched Sane in the dressing room after the Champions League loss to Man City.
