Chelsea news: The Blues may be set to score more often after a trick that assisted Marcus Rashford and Darwin Nunez
Chelsea’s goal-scoring woes are nothing new, dating back to the departure of Diego Costa as a first-team regular. Many millions of pounds have been spent since, with Alvaro Morata, Timo Werner, and Romelu Lukaku all unable to take over as the Blues’ center-forward.
The difficulty of finding the back of the net has carried over into Graham Potter’s tenure as head coach, with the team scoring the fifth fewest goals in the league (29 in 27 games). However, those fortunes may improve as a result
That is, if the Portuguese forward replicates a secret weapon used by rival strikers Marcus Rashford and Darwin Nunez. Interestingly, it has nothing to do with their abilities on the field and everything to do with the boots they wear.
Artist Jordan Dawson designed custom boots for Rashford and Nunez, who have both become regular goal scorers in recent months. The 28-year-old believes his designs have helped the stars go on a scoring streak and wants Felix to be his next client.
“I’ve had a lot of messages from people saying my customised boots give players special powers,” Dawson told TalkSPORT. I gave Rashford boots before the World Cup, and he hasn’t stopped scoring since. “I gave Nunez boots, and he hasn’t stopped scoring despite struggling at the start.”
“I’ve worked with Mount at Chelsea and I’m hoping to work with Joao Felix,” Dawson said, claiming to be a huge Chelsea fan. Perhaps the change is what the forward needs to find some form, as Rashford and Nunez have done so far this season.
