Jadon Sancho
Brighton are reportedly planning a record £45 million bid for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
According to sources, Manchester United are already taking bids for the 23-year-old, with Brighton among the clubs interested in signing the England international.
The Seagulls reportedly inquired about Sancho last month, but United declined. However, the club’s shift in stance has prompted Albion to feel that a record-breaking bid may secure the deal.
Sancho joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in the summer of 2021, but he has failed to live up to the hype that surrounded him following four explosive years in Germany.
The crafty wide midfielder has made 79 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 12 goals, but has fallen out of favor with manager Erik ten Hag, starting only 26 of United’s 62-game season.
He was picked in the starting eleven for Manchester United’s FA Cup final loss to rivals Manchester City on June 3 at Wembley, coming on in the 78th minute for Wout Weghorst.
If Brighton acquire Sancho, it will be the second time this summer that they have broken their transfer fee record, having already completed a £30 million deal for Watford winger Joao Pedro.
The Sussex club have already been busy in the early stages of the summer transfer window, with James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud poised to join on free transfers from Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.
The salary of Sancho could be a big stumbling block in the deal. His current United contract, which runs until June 2026, pays him £350,000 a week.
