The former Arsenal striker immediately compared Liverpool’s £120 million asking price to giants of the past
On Tuesday night, Thierry Henry shared his player comparisons for Liverpool target Jude Bellingham. Former Red Jamie Carragher interrogated the former Arsenal forward on the midfielder, as the two disputed who the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is most akin to.
Carragher was quick to point out similarities between Liverpool star Steven Gerrard and Henry, but he also compared the former Birmingham City midfielder to former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieria.
“He does, I must admit, play like Gerrard. It’s a tough one since “Stevie G had something – he used to grab his team with him and everyone performed better,” Henry stated on CBS Sports of Bellingham.
“Patrick Vieira had a bit of that but he was a bit more tenacious when winning the ball back but when he was playing it was extremely difficult to stop him and I know people remember him with the kicking but he could play and score goals from time to time. Bellingham is a modern midfielder, which is why everyone wants him since he can do it all.”
Henry then hinted that Bellingham would join Liverpool in the summer, to which Carragher replied, ‘fingers crossed,’ before explaining why the youngster is so highly regarded.
“He’s all-round, he’s complete, he likes to show some movement, skills going forward,” Carragher remarked of the Kop great. “What I appreciate about him is that he constantly wants the ball, that he never hides whether he needs to defend or attack, that he’s always on the ball looking to see if he can feed his strikers.

“This is what I appreciate about him, he’s eager to try and get the ball back – it’s not simply about talents in football. He’ll get the ball, see whether he can play, move around and pass it, be available, then pass it to his friend again. He can do whatever he wants right now, and we all know that’s why so many people want him because he has it in his locker.”
Dortmund were defeated 2-0 on the night at Stamford Bridge, giving Chelsea a 2-1 aggregate triumph. With goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz, Germany’s 11-match winning streak came to an end.
Liverpool remain in pole position to sign Bellingham, but journalist Santi Arona stated yesterday that a meeting between Real Madrid’s head of recruiting, Juni Calafa, and Jude Bellingham’s father and agent, Mark, took place at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London.
It’s a drama that will undoubtedly dominate the summer transfer season, and Liverpool are expected to be strong competitors for his signing.
