Alisson Becker praises his teammates following Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Liverpool.
“I think that every moment of the season had its cause, and today we can say that it was the attitude of the players on the pitch,” he told TNT Sports, according to CaughtOffside. Perhaps it was due of the first game, which had a fairly flexible score.
“It’s difficult to come here and beat Real Madrid away from home… As a human person, it’s difficult for you to generate that expectation of qualification.
“Now, guy, I’m wearing the Liverpool shirt, and I’m going to play against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. The very least I can do is give it my all. So that’s my thought; I think I did my best, and I’m leaving here with a clear mind.
“And now, speaking as a group, we have a lot more work to do. And in this up-and-down season, every moment had a cause.
“We had injuries, I suppose we don’t like to talk about it in football. We’re not going to use that as an excuse, but the injuries hurt. With only one player missing, this is no longer an excuse. This has been going on for almost a month.
“We had an amazing game against United. Soon after, there was an unexplained match against Bournemouth. And against Real Madrid, we didn’t play poorly, but we didn’t play enough to tie the game. There was a lack of attitude, and we were missing in many ways.”
Liverpool have a couple weeks off now. Their next game will be a difficult journey to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on April 1.
