Naby Keita, a midfielder for Liverpool, will miss the club’s upcoming games against Manchester City and Chelsea

Keita has had a terrible season at Anfield, with injuries limiting him to just 13 appearances. That pretty much sums up his Liverpool career, which will come to an end when his contract expires this summer.

In the meantime, there was still hope that Keita could make a significant contribution. Unfortunately, Goal reported today that this appears to be an impossibility.

That’s because the 28-year-old has allegedly been injured yet again. Keita was taken off the field at halftime of Guinea’s win over Ethiopia on Monday due to an undiagnosed injury. Goal reports that he has yet to train with his teammates since his return to Merseyside.

As a result, the midfielder is expected to miss the next two games for Liverpool. With only 12 games left in the season – and his Reds career – he won’t get many more chances to wear the red jersey.

Naby offers no surprises.

This is possibly the least surprising news to come out of the recent international break. Keita appears to be injured every time he travels with Guinea.

That will soon no longer be Liverpool’s problem. But, at a time when the Reds appear to be lacking in midfield, they could use him right now.

Unfortunately, Naby’s body has failed him and his club yet again. Another nail in the coffin of a Reds career that had once been billed as ‘incredible.’

Given that, Klopp may want to try a different formation against City, Chelsea, and Arsenal. He now has all of his attacking options fit and ready, and he can use the change to experiment with how to fit them all in. That appears to be Liverpool’s best chance of getting anything out of the next three games. And the time of year.

Find a way to use them effectively, and Liverpool could have a competitive advantage next season. Keita will not be at Anfield when that happens. But he hasn’t been for much of the last five years. Naby, I’m sorry. What a pity.
