This summer, Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare

The Reds have been rumored to be interested in the Ivorian for some time, and 90min reports that this is still the case today.

And, while they appeared to be unsuccessful in their attempts to sign him last year, this time appears to be different. According to reports, PSV are now willing to let Sangare leave the club in order to cash in while his stock is high.

To that end, the 25-year-agents old’s are said to have approached a number of Premier League clubs. West Ham has been named as one of the clubs looking for a replacement for Declan Rice. However, Sangare is said to be looking for a ‘bigger club.’

All of Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea are said to be ‘known admirers’ higher up the Premier League table. Each could reportedly secure his signing for around £32.5 million, which is the value of his release clause.

Liverpool’s first choice is not Sangare.

Sangare is most likely one of the players on Liverpool’s long list of potential midfield options this summer. For years, the Reds have been said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international.

He wouldn’t break the bank for Liverpool and would add some steel to the side for less than £33 million.

But – and we could be wrong – he doesn’t appear to be of the same caliber as other named targets. At twenty-five, he is still plying his trade in the Dutch league, and playing for Liverpool would be a significant step up.

Jurgen Klopp needs players who can hit the ground running right now. It is critical that the Reds sign at least one, possibly two, or even three players who can play immediately next season.

They won’t have the luxury of gradually integrating new signings. Liverpool cannot afford to begin another season as slowly as they did this one.

As a result, we’re not convinced that Sangare is the right man to go after. He’d definitely add something, and his price is reasonable. But, with all due respect, Liverpool should aim a little higher.
