Liverpool is ready to face Real Madrid this week, and the task has been made more difficult by some devastating injury news
The Reds must stage the greatest of comebacks at the Bernabeu. It would be a comeback to rival some of the Reds’ finest evenings in Europe over the years. But you never know, and Jurgen Klopp will have his players ready for the challenge.
But, the news from training today has made Klopp’s plans for victory even more difficult.
Liverpool will be without four crucial players for the encounter in Madrid, according to The Evening Standard, including £20 million midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
In addition to Thiago, Naby Keita, Joe Gomez, and Luis Diaz are also expected to miss out. The news will come as a disappointment to Klopp, who had hoped for the extra bodies to assist the Reds.
Thiago has a lot of experience in Europe and in huge games like this. Klopp would almost certainly have chosen the Spaniard, but now the German must devise a new strategy.
Thiago’s tenure in Liverpool has been marred by injuries. Similarly, Keita. Nevertheless, Gomez and Diaz will be hoping to continue playing important roles this season.

Going to Madrid with a complete squad is difficult enough, but going with injured players, especially ones like the four named above, is just bad luck.
Thiago and Diaz would have been very valuable, and Keita’s energy may have come in handy in the middle if needed.
This week is a busy one for Liverpool. If they succeed, it will go down as one of, if not the, best nights under Jurgen Klopp thus far.
