People in Dortmund are beginning to believe that Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham has ended
The Reds had long been considered the favorites to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer. Liverpool, on the other hand, was recently announced to have dropped out of the running.
Despite this, there have been rumors that the 19-year-old could end up at Anfield after all.
However, according to German journalist Constantin Eckner, those in Dortmund are skeptical of such rumors.
“Liverpool was, of course, in the running,” the journalist told BBC Sport. “The talk in Dortmund is that Liverpool may no longer be in the running because the transfer fee may be too high, and Liverpool are in a rebuilding phase over the summer and require more than one addition to their midfield.” So it might not be wise for them to buy Bellingham and no one else.”
The talk of the town is about Liverpool and Bellingham.
The talk on the streets of Dortmund sounds eerily similar to what’s going on in Liverpool, Madrid, and Manchester right now. But that could be exactly what the Reds want.
Of course, Liverpool fans were disappointed to learn that their team was no longer pursuing their top transfer target.
But perhaps there is a method to the madness after all. It’s not difficult to imagine a scenario in which Liverpool has persuaded Bellingham that it’s Anfield or bust for him.
As a result, it’s understandable that they’d try every trick in the book to convince Dortmund, and the rest of the world, that they’re out of the race. It gives Bellingham’s current club far less wiggle room in terms of pricing.
Some will believe it, while most will not. Finally, we won’t know until the England international’s next move is announced.
From a Liverpool perspective, they’ll hope that the talk in Dortmund is exaggerated this time.
