PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, is likely to join Nottingham Forest
The Reds eventually signed Ryan Gravenberch instead, but he was considered as a replacement for Moises Caicedo, who joined Chelsea.
Sangare has put up some outstanding performances in the Eredivisie in recent seasons, earning the attention of various European clubs.
PSV signed the Ivory Coast international in 2020. Since then, he has made 140 appearances across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and assisting on 10 others.
Sangare is primarily a defensive midfielder, but he can also play further forward. The 25-year-old will compete with Nottingham Forest’s existing midfield options and will almost certainly start for Steve Cooper. T
Sangare will help the Tricky Trees avoid relegation again this season, according to the boss.
Nottingham Forest have won the race to sign Sangare, according to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“Ibrahim Sangare to Nottingham Forest, here we go!” Romano posted on Twitter. PSV has agreed to a €35 million package deal, including add-ons.
Sangare will travel after the agreement is finalized, as previously reported. Personal terms were also agreed upon.”
“Vlachodimos on his way, Hudson Odoi completes medical.”
Sangare has the potential to be an outstanding signing for Nottingham Forest. He will be their seventh new signing of the window (counting loans), but their work is far from done.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, as Romano mentioned, is also on the verge of moving to City Ground. The agreed-upon sum is thought to be in the neighborhood of £8 million.
Odysseas Vlachodimos, the goalkeeper for Benfica, is also scheduled to join Nottingham Forest. He will compete with fellow new arrival Alex Turner, who came from Arsenal earlier in the transfer window.
Barring any last-minute surprises, Cooper appears to have at least three new players in the door before tonight’s 11 p.m. deadline.
