Ruud van Nistelrooy, manager of PSV Eindhoven, has confirmed that star player Cody Gakpo may leave the club in January
Speaking to Voetbal International, the former Manchester United player appears to have accepted that the 23-year-old will depart the Dutch club – most likely during the winter transfer window.
“If I had an option, I would want [Gakpo to go] in the summer, but it might also be now,” he explained.
“You simply know there will be a time when you won’t be able to say no.”
According to 90min, van Nistelrooy’s former club, Manchester United, is dominating the fight to sign the attacker, however journalist Di Marzio thinks Liverpool is still in the running. PSV currently anticipates losing the player in January.

Before the World Cup, there was already a lot of buzz around Gakpo.
However, following a dominant campaign, the 23-year-old must be one of Europe’s most in-demand players.
Out in Qatar, the winger scored in each of Holland’s three group games. Although he failed to score in any future matches, Gakpo shown he had the potential to perform with the best at the highest level.
While the Dutchman was close to a move over the summer, it now appears that he will leave the Eredivisie in January.
It’s easy to see why teams from all across Europe are interested in signing the offensive talent, who has been dubbed “amazing” by analyst Matteo Bonetti.
At the moment, United seem the most likely destination. Liverpool, on the other hand, remains strongly in contention. However, in the absence of a clear solution, we must wait and observe what happens over the winter timeframe.
