Liverpool are allegedly interested in signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer
In a game that didn’t signify anything to either club, the Reds concluded the season with a 4-4 draw against Southampton yesterday. Jurgen Klopp‘s team had already missed out on a top-four spot, and the Saints’ fate was confirmed.
The attention now shifts to next season and how Liverpool may improve their squad through the transfer market. According to GiveMeSport’s Rudy Galletti, Milinkovic-Savic is the most recent name on Klopp’s wish list.
Liverpool has added Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to its transfer wish list.
It is no secret that Liverpool’s midfield is a critical area to improve this summer.
The Reds have long been linked with a transfer for Jude Bellingham, but the Englishman does not appear to be joining the club.
Alexis MacAllister appears to be the first player to arrive, but Mason Mount’s deal has been thrown into question; he is said to desire a move to Manchester United.
Liverpool are in need of another midfielder, and Galletti believes Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is a feasible possibility.
“Liverpool want to be competitive again in the Premier League, and one of the main targets of the next summer transfer market is to strengthen the midfield,” he explained.
“Yes, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s name is on the list.”
“His contract will expire in 2024, and Lazio will have to sell him in the summer to avoid losing him as a free agent next year.”
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, the world’s finest midfielder, has been phenomenal for Lazio in recent years.
The Serbian has consistently been considered among the greatest players in Serie A over the last four years. He has scored 38 goals and supplied 39 assists in that span, an outstanding performance for a central midfielder.
During the World Cup, Lazio president Claudio Lotito called him “the best midfielder in the world,” while his agent, Mateja Kezman, called him “a better midfielder than Paul Pogba.”
Milinkovic-Savic will almost probably leave Lazio this summer, and it will be fascinating to see if Liverpool makes a play for him in the coming weeks.
