If West Ham thought things couldn’t get much worse following their humiliating 4-1 defeat to Tottenham, think again
West Ham have been left licking their wounds following their humiliating defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
In recent years, the Hammers have proven to be formidable opponents for Tottenham.
Given the significance of the match for both sets of fans, demonstrating emotion and competitiveness should be expected.
Julen Lopetegui’s team got off to a good start when Mohammed Kudus scored after 18 minutes.
However, what happened next was completely inappropriate.
Tottenham earned a well-deserved equalizer before the interval. However, West Ham remained in a strong position to get a positive result away from home.
Postecoglou’s remarks regarding West Ham are terrible.
However, the second half was a disaster, with West Ham conceding three goals in eight minutes.
It should and should have been four goals in nine minutes, but Tottenham captain Son Heung-min hit the inside of the post, which stayed out.
West Ham had no chance of getting back into the game. But Kudus made certain of it when he “floored” three Tottenham players before getting dismissed.
Following the game, former referee Mike Dean announced that Kudus would be suspended for six games due to the incident.
The outcome and performance against West Ham’s fiercest Premier League opponents have put Lopetegui under renewed scrutiny.
As a result, it has been easier on Ange Postecoglou, who has maintained his controversial high line.
London derbies between West Ham and Tottenham should always be competitive.
Something is wrong if they are not.

Spurs’ manager adds to Hammers’ misery.
So what Spurs manager Postecoglou told his in-house media crew regarding West Ham is simply awful.
Before and after a game, managers usually say the same things about each other and the opposing team.
They don’t tend to rub salt in the wound after a victory.
However, Postecoglou’s comments to Spurs’ media team following the victory should be directed at Lopetegui and his players. Because if they don’t elicit a response that restores pride, nothing will.
Postecoglou claimed his players just ‘blew West Ham away’.
He described West Ham’s performance as “a bit of an arm wrestle in the first half.”
He also said the Spurs should have won 5 or 6-1.
Hang your heads with shame. West Ham
“I thought the boys were good today,” Postecoglou told the Spurs’ media crew.
“They (West Ham) gave us a bit of an arm wrestle in the first half; they’re a difficult team to play against because they have some physicality that you have to deal with. Despite a disappointing goal, I believe our response was positive.
