On Saturday, the Buccaneers conducted another interview for their offensive coordinator opening, meeting digitally with Vikings assistant offensive coordinator and assistant quarterback coach Grant Udinski.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued their search for a new offensive coordinator on Saturday afternoon, conducting a virtual interview with Grant Udinski, the Minnesota Vikings’ associate offensive coordinator/assistant quarterback coach. Earlier in the day, the organization had done the same with Marcus Brady, the Los Angeles Chargers’ passing game coordinator.
The Bucs are looking to replace Liam Coen, who was named head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday.
Udinski has been on Kevin O’Connell’s staff in Minnesota since 2022, beginning as an assistant to the head coach and special projects. He was elevated to assistant quarterbacks coach in 2023 before embarking on his current role this past season.
The Vikings had a strong offensive in 2024, which helped them finish the regular season 14-3 and earn a Wild Card berth in the playoffs. Minnesota had the ninth-highest point total in the NFL (25.4 per game), while ranking sixth in passing yards (237.8) and seventh in yards per pass play (7.38).
In his first season with the Vikings after spending 2023 as a backup in San Francisco, quarterback Sam Darnold had a breakout year with 4,319 passing yards and 35 touchdowns. Darnold’s single-season highs were 66.2% completion percentage and 102.5 passer rating.
After playing collegiate football at Davidson and Towson, Udinski started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Baylor in 2019. A year later, he accompanied Matt Rhule to the Carolina Panthers, where he worked as a coaching assistant for two seasons before being hired by O’Connell.
