(Video) Audio of van Dijk’s obscene reaction to Newcastle’s dismissal has emerged; ban could be extended

It wasn’t terrible enough that we lost Virgil van Dijk to suspension after his red card against Newcastle, but now that the audio of his reaction to the judgement has been released, we could lose him for even long

Howard Webb was displaying the best and worst VAR judgments (guess which there were more of!) and the footage of John Brooks delivering his sending off judgement showed him saying: “He [Van Dijk] comes through the man to play the ball” before directing our players to “move away” while VAR examined his decision.

The referee then urged our captain to “wait” until a decision was made, and then added, “You will need to go immediately if I tell you you’ve got to go.”

When the final verdict is made, you can see and hear Jurgen Klopp’s players are still not happy or convinced, before our No.4 tells the official that the scenario was a “f***ing joke.”

Given that we are still awaiting the repercussions of the Dutchman’s FA ban, this appears to just imply that his time on the sidelines will be prolonged from a one-match ban.

As much as this demonstrates that the defense did ‘act in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official,’ if they want to make an example of this circumstance, they will have to issue multiple red cards per game for situations like this.
