UNC Legends Go Nuclear on Rashad McCants Over Explosive “Plantation” Comments
Drama erupts in Chapel Hill as former Tar Heel Rashad McCants unleashes a shocking tirade, labeling UNC a “plantation” under legendary coach Roy Williams—and even calling teammate Raymond Felton a “slave.” The backlash? Brutal.
UNC icons Raymond Felton and Theo Pinson didn’t hold back. On the Run Your Race podcast, they tore into McCants after his jaw-dropping comments on the Out The Mud show. Felton, clearly furious, called McCants a “clown” and even welcomed a face-to-face showdown: “Wherever, whenever—I want all the smoke.”
McCants, known for past controversial takes, doubled down by recounting a heated exchange with former coach Matt Doherty and claimed the program actively suppressed his success. He also criticized Williams for allegedly ignoring him at the 2005 NBA Draft.
But Felton and Pinson weren’t having it.

“Why didn’t you leave then?” Felton asked, calling out McCants for staying at UNC two more years despite the alleged mistreatment.
Pinson went scorched earth: “You’ve burned every relationship. You’re a selfish [expletive]. That’s why nobody likes you.”
And it didn’t stop there—Pinson exposed McCants for allegedly trying to quietly repair his relationship with UNC just this past year, claiming McCants showed up uninvited looking for Roy Williams (who, Pinson reminded him, no longer coaches there).
In a fiery moment, Felton slammed McCants’ lack of accountability for his short NBA career, pointing the blame right back at him: “You the one who f***** your career up. You’re dead to me.”
This isn’t the first time McCants has pushed the “plantation” narrative—he even authored a 2018 book with similar claims. But this time, he crossed a line too far for UNC royalty.
The fallout? UNC Nation is watching closely—and it’s safe to say Rashad McCants won’t be welcomed back to Chapel Hill anytime soon.
