UNC Basketball is Among the Most Active Suitors for Coveted Prep. Dylan Mingo

UNC’s basketball recruiters only got involved with the five-star guard a few weeks ago.

Back in June 2024, Dylan Mingo, a point guard from Long Island Lutheran School (N.Y.), was ranked No. 17 overall in the 247Sports 2026 Composite. But by late May, when Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis extended him a scholarship offer, Mingo had already climbed to No. 9 in his class.

He has since moved up another spot to No. 8. This week, Mingo—a dynamic 6-foot-5 guard known for his explosive first step—told Sam Kayser of League Ready that North Carolina is among the seven programs recruiting him most consistently. The other schools heavily in the mix are Missouri, UConn, Oklahoma, Texas, Miami, and Virginia.

“Dylan Mingo has been one of the top standouts this summer,” Kayser said of the highly sought-after guard.

In the last month alone, UNC’s coaches have offered scholarships to six players across the 2026 and 2027 recruiting classes. Mingo, who just picked up an offer from NC State under coach Will Wade, is one of three rising senior prospects the Tar Heels have recently targeted.
