Travis Perry Transfer Saga Heats Up: Louisville, Arkansas, and More in Hot Pursuit

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Travis Perry sweepstakes are officially underway, and the race is already stacked with big-name contenders. After shocking the Bluegrass State by entering the transfer portal late Tuesday night, the Kentucky native and all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school history is drawing heavy interest from across the SEC and beyond.

Top schools reportedly in the mix?

  • Louisville (in-state rivalry alert!)
  • Arkansas (hello again, Coach Cal!)
  • Tennessee
  • Ole Miss
  • Vanderbilt, Missouri, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia
  • And don’t forget Western Kentucky, also keeping close tabs.

Perry, who led Lyon County to a state title in 2024, was originally signed by John Calipari and stayed on at Kentucky under Mark Pope. But now with Calipari at Arkansas, the Razorbacks have jumped right into the hunt, hoping to reunite with their former commit. Is a Calipari-Perry reunion brewing in Fayetteville?

The reason for Perry’s surprise portal entry is still unclear — whether it’s about minutes, money, or a new opportunity, the buzz around his name is undeniable.

As a freshman at UK, Perry appeared in 31 games, averaging 2.7 points in 9.7 minutes, and provided key minutes when injuries rocked the backcourt. He showed flashes of potential and remains a high-upside guard with a proven scoring pedigree.

Meanwhile, in NBA Draft news, Kentucky standout Otega Oweh is still weighing his future. Currently ranked No. 77 on ESPN’s draft board, Oweh might be leaning toward returning for another season, unless his stock sees a major boost at the NBA Combine. He has until May 28 to make the final call.

Oweh led UK in scoring last season (16.2 PPG) and was clutch in high-pressure moments — including back-to-back game-winners vs. Oklahoma, his former team.

But right now, all eyes are on Travis Perry.

Where will the Kentucky legend go next?
Louisville? Arkansas? A shock return to the SEC?

One thing’s for sure:
This portal drama is just getting started. Stay tuned.
