According to O Jogo, Argentina’s World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez is prioritizing a move to Premier League powerhouse Liverpool, despite interest from Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid
Benfica took a chance and did something that no one else would have done just six months ago. They triggered Enzo Fernandez’s River Plate contract’s £18 million release clause.
Even the most optimistic Benfica fan could not have guessed how far Enzo would come in such a short time.
On Sunday night at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium, the 21-year-old playmaker smiled for photos while wearing a World Cup winner’s medal around his neck, the Young Player of the Tournament award in one hand, and the Jules Rimet in the other.
Meanwhile, his asking price has grown from £18 million to roughly £100 million, with the Portuguese giants reluctant to allow Enzo leave for anything less than his astronomical release clause.

The Merseyside giants have already signed an arrangement with Enzo’s club, according to La Capital. O Jogo has now provided evidence to back up his assertion. Liverpool will also match any bid made by competing suitors, who include Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
Liverpool appears to be given ‘priority’ by Enzo.
Enzo has made it obvious that he wants to become the most expensive signing in the history of one of Europe’s most prestigious footballing institutions. And, as his remarkable performances in the Qatar World Cup demonstrated, he is not a man who buckles under pressure.
Liverpool also has a solid working relationship with Benfica. Last August, they agreed to a £64 million deal for Darwin Nunez.
“He has a bright future,” Argentina captain Lionel Messi said of Fernandez, who started the final victory over France on Sunday. “Enzo is exceptionally brilliant. He oozes charisma and makes amazing passes. Spectacular.”
His playing ability is simply astounding. “At only 21 years old,” ex-Real Madrid coach Jose Peseiro says.
“The best player with whom I worked at Real Madrid was Zinedine Zidane.” Of course, I don’t want to make comparisons. But I’m referring to Enzo’s fleeting and striking vision, which makes me think of Zidane.
