Alabama is expected to have a busy summer with both new recruits and departures as it attempts to bolster its squad in preparation for the 2025 season, with transfer season already underway.
December 9–28 is when the winter transfer portal will be open, and April 16–25, 2025, is when the spring window will be open. During both times, the Tide will try to fill certain roster gaps, and some Alabama players will also search for other chances.
For the duration of the window, the most recent information on Crimson Tide players will be available on Tide Illustrated’s transfer portal tracker. Here are the most recent arrivals and departures from Alabama during the winter time frame.

Alabama acquires a TE Transfer Portal’s Peter Knudson (Jan. 6)
In preparation for the next season, Alabama added additional depth at tight end. Through the transfer site, Weber State tight end Peter Knudson committed to the Tide.
Knudson spent his junior season with 356 snaps and 12 appearances. At the FCS level, he hauled in nine receptions for 63 yards for the Wildcats.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior will only be eligible for one more season.
RB Dre’lyn Washington is acquired by Alabama via the transfer portal on January 6.
Through the transfer portal, Alabama increased their running back depth. Running back Dre’lyn Washington of Louisiana committed to the Crimson Tide.
During his redshirt junior season with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Washington had 73 carries for 478 yards and five touchdowns. After the dead period ended on January 1, he spent the weekend in Alabama.
Washington will still be eligible to attend Tuscaloosa for one more year. Leading rusher Jam Miller, redshirt sophomore Richard Young, and redshirt freshmen Daniel Hill and Kevin Riley are all expected to return to the Tide. In the Class of 2025, Alabama also added Akylin Dear, a four-star prospect.
On January 5, Justin Okoronkwo logs into the transfer portal.
On Sunday night, Justin Okoronkwo went through the transfer portal, meaning Alabama has lost another linebacker. The incoming sophomore, who will have three years of eligibility at his future school, participated in all 13 games last season.
Although Okoronkwo only appeared in seven defensive snaps, he was a part of the special teams kickoff and punt units. He had 0.5 stops for a loss among his 14 tackles. The three-star prospect from last year’s class, who was born in Munich, Germany, signed with Alabama.
Following the entry of fellow inside linebackers Sterling Dixon and Jeremiah Alexander into the transfer portal earlier this weekend, Okoronkwo made his decision.
Elijah Pritchett, the starting RT for Alabama, will enter the gateway on January 4.
Elijah Pritchett declared on Saturday that he intends to use the transfer portal, which means Alabama would lose its starting right tackle. This past season, Pritchett had 13 appearances and started 12 games. At his next school, the rising redshirt junior will be eligible for two years.
This autumn, Pritchett had a difficult debut season as a starter. The 6-foot-6, 327-pound lineman led the team in sacks and pressures allowed, according to Pro Football Focus. With a 51.8 run-blocking percentage, he also finished bottom among Alabama’s starting lineman
While considering a transfer from Alabama in 2023, Pritchett decided to stay for the 2024 season instead. The product of Columbus, Georgia, joined the Tide as the 2022 class’s top-ranked offensive tackle and 22nd overall.
Tyler Booker’s NFL draft declaration means Alabama will already lose its starting left guard. Miles McVay went for North Carolina, making Pritchett Alabama’s second offensive line transfer departure.
On the offensive line, the Tide signed four freshmen, including Jackson Llyod Micah Debose, Mal Waldrep, and five-star player Michael Carroll. Additionally, Alabama added Arkel Anugwom from Ball State and Kam Dewberry from Texas A&M via the gateway.
Alabama will probably use Wilkin Formby at right tackle now that Pritchett is gone.
Sterling Dixon, LB for Alabama, will use the transfer site on January 4.
According to a rumor, Sterling Dixon, a linebacker for Alabama, is anticipated to use the transfer portal. This season, Dixon made three appearances for the Tide.
Dixon, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024, was ranked No. 6 among outside linebackers and No. 169 overall. In Alabama’s season opener against Western Kentucky, he played just one defensive snap.
Ty Lockwood, a TE for Alabama, will use the transfer site on January 4.
According to several reports, Alabama tight end Ty Lockwood is anticipated to use the transfer portal. Lockwood played for the Crimson Tide for two seasons, making seven appearances.
Lockwood, a four-star prospect in the Class of 2023, attended Independence High School in Thompsons Station, Tennessee, before committing to Alabama. Before redshirting his freshman season, he made two appearances. Last season, he had his first career catch against Mercer.
Returners Josh Cuevas, Danny Lewis, and Jay Lindsey, together with incoming freshmen Marshall Pritchett and Kaleb Edwards, make up Alabama’s current roster of five scholarship tight ends.
