Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly tabled a €35 million bid to recruit Manchester United target Hakan Calhanoglu.
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Hakan Calhanoglu, according to the Italian website Inter Live. Inter Milan has accepted a €35 million bid from the North London giants. Manchester United are also interested in the 29-year-old dynamic midfielder this summer.
Since arriving to Italy five years ago, Hakan Calhanoglu has become one of the world’s most underappreciated midfielders. After four great years with the Rossoneri, the Turkish international joined AC Milan in July 2017. However, he surprised AC Milan supporters when he chose Inter Milan as his next destination in July 2021.
While Calhanoglu‘s selection was contentious, he has delivered at San Siro. In over 100 games with Inter Milan, the 29-year-old has 12 goals and 21 assists. However, the player’s future with the Nerazzurri remains questionable due to the club’s financial problems. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in signing him.
Calhanoglu‘s name has long been on Manchester United’s wishlist. However, given that the Red Devils are on the approach of acquiring Mason Mount, it is unclear where the 29-year-old may fit in at Old Trafford. However, with the Turk reshaping his style as a box-to-box midfielder, he may be the perfect foil for Casemiro.
Apart from Manchester United, Chelsea is interested in the former AC Milan playmaker. However, the Red Devils and Blues have fallen behind Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Calhanoglu. That’s because the North London club has made a €35 million bid for him.
Tottenham’s midfield options have been bolstered this summer, as has Manchester United’s, with the signing of James Maddison. However, the Turkish international might still be a feasible target for the North London club due to his ability to play a deeper role. As a result, he may be the ideal match for Rodrigo Bentancur.
With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg‘s future at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium unknown, the 29-year-old Inter Milan creative midfielder is an appealing alternative to replace the Danish international. However, it would be intriguing to see if the Serie A heavyweights accept the €35 million deal. If not, Manchester United may be able to outbid Tottenham for Calhanoglu’s services.
