The Difficult Season of Maguire At The Theatre Of Dreams
Maguire had a difficult season at the Manchester club recently, as he battled to obtain consistent playing time under Erik ten Hag‘s management. In the previous season, the English defensive ace appeared in 31 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions.

In the Premier League, the 30-year-old averaged 0.5 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, and 2.6 clearances per 90 minutes. He’s also been effective while distributing the ball from the back, completing 85.4% of his attempted passes in the top flight of English football (numbers via whoscored).

Maguire is under contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2025. As a result, Spurs will be forced to satisfy Man United’s demands for their prized asset this off-season.

Is Maguire a viable option for Spurs manager Angelos Postecoglou?
When he is confident on the defensive end of the field, Maguire is a competent tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team. Standing 1.94m tall, the England international can use his powerful body to win a few crucial 50-50 aerial duels for his team. Maguire normally clears the danger when needed, but he is prone to making mistakes at the back, which he has to improve in order to make the most of the rest of his playing career.

There is no disputing, however, that the English superstar has a plethora of Premier League experience under his belt and is well-equipped to make an immediate impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Angelos Postecoglou can find a way to get him on board before the start of the new season.

Maguire would provide more bite and grit to Tottenham‘s defense. He might even help the North London team compete for a top-four spot in the English Premier League next season. Overall, Maguire would be a fantastic short-term alternative for Postecoglou to explore this summer.
