Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Abu Dhabi Summit and Paris Holiday

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja following his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) and a brief private stay in Paris, marking the end of his overseas trip that combined official duties with his annual leave.
The President’s return was confirmed on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement titled “President Tinubu returns to Nigeria after Abu Dhabi trip.” According to the statement, Tinubu arrived back in the country after attending the high-level sustainability summit held in the United Arab Emirates capital.
President Tinubu initially departed Nigeria on Sunday, December 28, 2025, for Paris, where he spent the remainder of his annual vacation. After the holiday, he proceeded to Abu Dhabi to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which took place from January 11 to January 15. The global event brought together world leaders, policymakers, investors, and development partners to discuss climate action, energy transition, and sustainable economic growth.
During the summit, President Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. The agreement is expected to strengthen economic ties between both countries, expand trade opportunities, and attract increased investment into key sectors of the Nigerian economy. The deal aligns with the administration’s broader agenda of boosting foreign investment and positioning Nigeria as a major player in global green and sustainable finance.
The President also used the platform to reiterate Nigeria’s commitment to climate action and sustainable development, while highlighting the country’s potential in renewable energy, green industrialisation, and climate-focused investments.
Notably, this was not Tinubu’s first appearance at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. In 2025, he also attended the summit, underscoring Nigeria’s growing engagement with international forums focused on sustainability and economic partnerships.
With his return to Abuja, President Tinubu is expected to resume full official duties, as the federal government continues efforts to deepen international cooperation, attract investment, and address domestic economic and developmental priorities.
