Nottingham Forest news as the Reds prepare to face Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield
Nottingham Forest’s injury woes show no signs of abating as the club enters the season’s final seven games.
As they battle to keep their Premier League status, the Reds have been without a number of key players. And head coach Steve Cooper does not expect the list of available players to change for Saturday’s game against Liverpool.
Taiwo Awoniyi made his first start since recovering from a groin injury in last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United, while Renan Lodi recovered from a knock that kept him out of the squad for the previous game against Aston Villa. Moussa Niakhate was forced off with a hamstring injury during the game at Villa Park, but he was fit enough to face Erik ten Hag’s side.
Cheikhou Kouyate, on the other hand, was unavailable last time out after suffering a hamstring injury in the West Midlands. Serge Aurier, Ryan Yates, Chris Wood, Willy Boly, Dean Henderson, Omar Richards, and Giulian Biancone are still out.
“We have no new injuries, and unfortunately no one is quite ready to return,” Cooper said ahead of the trip to Anfield. “We are the same as we were before the Manchester United game.”
Forest arrive in the midst of a 10-match winless streak that has landed them in the relegation zone. They are level on points with Everton in 17th place but have a lower goal difference, while Leeds United are only two points ahead of them in 16th place.
