In their City of Palms Classic debut, Cayden and Cameron Boozer, twin Duke basketball signees, took home the hardware
Five-star guard Cayden Boozer and five-star forward Cameron Boozer, twin sons of 2001 Blue Devil national champion Carlos Boozer, are both prospective Duke basketball players who play for the Columbus High School (Fla.) Explorers. Over the last four years, they have made winning tournaments seem like a common occurrence.
Not surprisingly, then, the Boozer brothers, three-time state and Peach Jam champions, and their now-emerging prep powerhouse dealt the decisive blow in the school’s inaugural invitation to the esteemed City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.
Nevertheless, their opponent in the championship match on Monday night wasn’t to be taken lightly.
The opponent was actually the defending champion of the tournament and a reputable national powerhouse in the Blue Devil pipeline, the Montverde Academy (Fla.) Eagles, who have produced two top-ranked Duke basketball recruiting prizes in 2018–19: current freshman Cooper Flagg and one-and-done RJ Barrett.
Additionally, despite never taking the lead in the game, the Eagles did not give up easily in the Explorers’ final 59-57 victory.
Columbus had a 52-44 lead with less than four minutes remaining, wrapping off a 4-0 record in Fort Myers and improving to 12-1 overall this season. They also extended their winning streak to twelve games. However, a late burst from Montverde had them within two points in the last minute, and with 3.8 seconds left, Cameron Boozer went to the free throw line, putting Montverde behind 57-54.
Boozer drained both tries, proving to be clutch. In retrospect, Boozer’s splashes at the charity line felt even more important when the Eagles made a three-pointer at the buzzer, which had no bearing on the result.
Cameron Boozer, who finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, was ranked No. 2 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite. He was 8-for-9 at the line but only 3-for-9 from the field and 0-for-3 from beyond the arc.
In addition to having a mediocre stat line, Cayden Boozer, ranked No. 22 in the class, contributed eight points, three rebounds, one assist, and two steals while shooting 3-for-9 from the field and 2-for-4 from the line.
They made ten turnovers between the Duke basketball awards. However, in the end, they managed to do what they do best—win.
