Borussia Monchengladbach is hoping that Liverpool will make an offer for Manu Kone this summer.
In recent weeks, the Reds have been prominently linked with a transfer for Kone. According to recent reports, conversations between the players’ representatives and Liverpool have been ongoing for some time. Those discussions, however, have yet to result in anything more tangible.
However, Gladbach are still hoping for a bid to bring Kone to Anfield, according to writer Christian Falk in his piece for CaughtOffside today.

“In the case of Manu Kone, Gladbach want more than €40 million [£34 million] for the midfielder and are still hoping for a bid from Liverpool,” Falk writes.
“Paris Saint-Germain remains an interested party, while Aston Villa and Wolves have an outside chance of completing a deal.”
Liverpool’s focus is not Kone.
We wouldn’t put too much money on Gladbach getting their Kone wish granted just now.
Liverpool may be in contact with the 22-year-old, but he does not appear to be a high priority for the club.
Instead, his France U21 teammate Khephren Thuram appears to be the man on whom the Reds will pin their hopes.

Nonetheless, Liverpool clearly resembles Kone. Gladbach’s asking price is extremely reasonable given his skill and potential, according to Mark Schwarzer. This may turn out to be significant.
With Nice apparently refusing to sell Thuram for a high price, the former Toulouse man may be a more affordable option.

Of course, it’s not impossible for Liverpool to go all-in on both Thuram and Kone. The two are close friends and would have natural chemistry.
If they don’t make a move for Kone, it appears like he’ll be departing Gladbach regardless. If Wolves, Aston Villa, or PSG end up with him, Liverpool may come to regret their decision.
