Barcelona is still hoping to achieve a deal with Tottenham Hotspur worth roughly £8.6 million this summer in order to unload Clement Lenglet.
According to Sport, Tottenham have made an offer of £4.3 million for the Frenchman after he spent a year on loan with them.
After spending the season in North London, Clement Lenglet‘s future remained uncertain. Tottenham put his name on the retained list and announced his departure. However, it appears like the 28-year-old has a chance of returning.
Barcelona and Tottenham are hoping to strike an agreement on Lenglet.
According to Sport, the Barcelona management believes that Spurs announcing his exit was a ploy to reduce the cost of signing him permanently.
Barcelona had originally requested £12.9 million. Tottenham, on the other hand, wants to spend a lot less for the center-back.
It remains to be seen whether a compromise can be found. However, Sport reports that the Catalan giants remain hopeful that the two clubs would agree on a cost of £8.6 million (€10 million).
Tottenham may believe they are in a good situation. Barcelona clearly wants to offload Lenglet this summer. And Ange Postecoglou‘s men will have different objectives.
So if they don’t get Lenglet, it’s hardly the end of the world. They may believe that their perseverance will be rewarded later in the window.
It appears to be a step that all parties want to see happen. And there isn’t a tremendous disparity in their different prices. As a result, it would make sense if an agreement could be achieved at some time.
But it’s possible that Tottenham would put it on the back burner as they pursue their primary objectives in this window.
