The ‘outstanding’ Samuel Chukwueze would be ‘thrilled’ by a transfer to the Premier League, with Liverpool, Arsenal, West Ham United, and Aston Villa all reportedly interested.
After a number of disappointing seasons, Samuel Chukwueze lifted his game to a whole new level in 2022/23. The jet-set Nigerian was electric as Villarreal ended in the European spots, scoring 13 goals, setting up 11 more, and putting in one of the best individual displays on the continent in April’s 3-2 triumph away at Real Madrid.
According to Sport, Chukwueze’s stunning performances piqued the interest of Liverpool, Arsenal, West Ham, and an Aston Villa team managed by his former Villarreal coach Unai Emery.
However, as Roig emphasizes, Villarreal will not be compelled to sell.
“Samu is an extraordinary boy who has been with us for many years,” Roig explains to AS. “It is true that he is eager to play for a major club in Europe or the Premier League.”
“If this option came up, we’d sit down and talk about it.” However, it will be important to wait and see whether any advantageous offer is made to the
three parties. No offer has yet arrived in this case.
“What we are certain of is that if something very good does not appear, he will remain.”
Samuel Chukwueze is ‘excited’ about his move to the Premier League.
Chukwueze, 24, has just a year left on his contract after nearly signing for Arsenal for a low sum as a teenager. Roig, on the other hand, argues that Villarreal will not be forced into selling a top player on the cheap.
“We don’t care if there’s a year left,” says the CEO. “We don’t feel threatened at all, not by the player, not by anyone, and especially not by Samu and his surroundings.” It will not predispose us to believe that he just has a year left.
“We have to sell to break even.” But please understand that we are not in a rush. We’re also not going to undersell anyone.”
Chukwueze’s contract has a £68 million release clause. Some have dubbed him the ‘Nigerian Arjen Robben’ owing to his tendency for cutting inside and curving shots into the far corner with his preferred boot.
“He is an incredible player,” former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o previously told Chukwueze’s Goal.
“He’s a good player who needs to score more goals.” However, he possesses the talent and ability to be more than just a goal-scoring striker. He’ll be the best if he has everything.”
