Jamie Shackleton has returned to Leeds United this summer after spending last season on loan with Millwall in the Championship, and he has posted on Instagram for the first time since his stint in London – with a three-word statement

Shackleton, 23, left Leeds on loan last summer after appearing in 79 senior games for the club under Marcelo Bielsa. Twenty-seven of those 79 came in the Premier League. Jesse Marsch, on the other hand, elected to loan Shackleton.

He did well at Millwall, showing signs of quality, talent, and a relentless work rate. He struggled to establish himself as a starter, and Millwall, who had the option to sign him permanently, elected not to sign Shackleton this summer.

Is Shackleton’s future at Elland Road? It’s certainly up in the air. Relegation and a lack of options in the middle of the park will help his cause, as will the arrival of a new manager in the form of Daniel Farke at Leeds.

But his contract status, as well as his inability to start games regularly at Millwall, will work against him. Darko Gyabi and Archie Gray, our younger midfield players who far outperform Shackleton’s potential, will be given priority.

So Farke has a good chance of keeping Shackleton. He is the ideal type of player to have on the bench because he can play multiple positions. Shackleton, on the other hand, may like to join a club where he can play on a regular basis.
