According to sources who talked to Football Insider, Swansea City attempted to wreck Fleetwood Town’s deal to sign Leeds United striker Darko Gyabi at the last minute
The 19-year-old midfielder had agreed to join Fleetwood on loan, and the transfer was nearly completed.
Swansea, on the other hand, has attempted to destroy the arrangement at the last minute in order to lure Gyabi to Wales.
The Swans tried to improve their midfield late in the transfer window and moved quickly to try to get Gyabi.
The young midfielder has only made one appearance in Leeds‘ Championship campaign thus far, coming on in the last seconds of their 4-3 triumph over Ipswich Town.
Gyabi also played 45 minutes in the League Cup against Shrewsbury Town, although Daniel Farke appears to favour the midfield duo of Archie Grey and Ethan Ampadu.
Gyabi went to Elland Road as an intriguing prospect after Kalvin Phillips was traded to Manchester City last summer.
Leeds‘ coaching staff believes that a loan agreement is the best option for the former City youth standout’s development at the Yorkshire club because he has struggled to find playing time.
Gyabi played 24 games for Leeds’ youth squad last season, starting as a deep-midfielder and providing four goals and assists.
Fleetwood Town will remain in League One after a poor start to the season that saw them drop into the relegation zone.
