Chris Sutton of BBC Sport predicts that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will defeat Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City at Anfield on Friday evening in the Premier League
According to the former Chelsea striker, Liverpool will win 3-1 at home against Leicester.
Sutton has conceded that he was incorrect regarding Liverpool’s most recent game against Aston Villa.
On Boxing Day, the Reds defeated Villa 3-1 at Villa Park in the Premier League.
The BBC commentator has also given his approval to Dutch international forward Cody Gakpo, who has joined Liverpool from PSV.
LIVERPOOL VS LEICESTER CITY: CHRIS SUTTON
“Cody Gakpo is a terrific signing for Liverpool, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he fits into their assault when his transfer is finalized in January,” Sutton wrote.
“I erroneously assumed Liverpool would slip up against Aston Villa in their last game – Villa did have some chances but the Reds ended up winning handily.
“Jurgen Klopp’s team are going to be competing hard for the top four in the new year and I think they will conclude 2022 with a win too.
“James Maddison’s knee injury is a problem for Leicester, but I still believe they will score at Anfield – I simply believe Liverpool will score more.”
“Sutton’s prediction: 3-1,” a footnote added.
WHO WILL BE THE WINNER?
Liverpool, in our opinion, will be the favorites in their match against Leicester City.
We’d be astonished if the Reds faltered this evening.
Yes, Leicester has a fine team, but Liverpool is better and performed admirably against Aston Villa.
The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League champions appear to have regained their form.
Cody Gakpo, 23, is one of the brightest young forwards in the game and could be a huge success at Liverpool.
