Tottenham have identified Jonathan David as a possible Harry Kane successor if the striker leaves the club this summer, according to writer Ben Jacobs.
Harry Kane’s future is going to be one of the talking points of this transfer window, with numerous teams interested in signing him, including Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and PSG.
However, it is the German behemoths who have made the first move, with an initial bid of £60 million. Spurs quickly rejected the proposal because it fell £40 million shy of their £100 million estimate for the player.
According to Ben Jacobs, Bayern Munich is ready to make another £80 million bid for the superstar.
Bayern hopes that the player would try to leave, which will help them sign him.
However, he adds that the Spurs’ stance is clear: they would reject any offer for him, with Levy evidently ready to risk losing him on a free agent next season.
In the event Harry Kane is forced to leave Tottenham, Jacobs believes that the club has selected Jonathan David as a potential successor.
Jonathan David had a fantastic season in the French Ligue, with 30 goals (26 goals and 4 assists) in all competitions for Lille.
He joined the Ligue 1 club in 2020 for €27 million and has 58 goals and 9 assists in 136 matches in three years.
According to Transfermarkt, the Canadian striker’s market worth has subsequently grown to €60 million, a tribute to his continuous performances.
