This summer, the Udinese marksman has been linked with a transfer to north London.

Tottenham Hotspur fans will have an anxious summer as the future of talisman Harry Kane remains unknown, with it still unclear whether the England captain will lead Ange Postecoglou‘s team next season.

While Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is said to be emphatic that the 29-year-old would not be sold to a domestic rival before the September deadline, an exit might still be on the cards with only a year remaining on the striker’s deal, with German giants Bayern Munich lurking.

The expectation is that the long-serving striker will continue in north London for next season and beyond, but Postecoglou and co. may need to investigate prospective striking targets who may replace Kane‘s vacuum if he leaves this summer.

According to recent rumours in Spain, the Lilywhites have been approached by the representatives of Udinese forward Beto about a possible summer move, with the Portuguese hotshot potentially available for roughly €30 million (£26 million).

The 6 foot 4 striker, who joined the Serie A team on loan from Portimonense in 2021, has grabbed the attention after scoring 21 goals in just 63 appearances for his present side, implying he might be the guy to reinforce Postecoglou’s offensive ranks this summer.

Beto, the Udinese striker, who is he?
While not a big name, the towering machine appears to be a “quality player,” according to journalist Josh Bunting, having particularly impressed writer Sam Tighe with the way he just “spooks defenders” while sprinting in behind.
The 25-year-old, described as a “intelligent” number nine with “good hold up play” by Bunting, could clearly offer more to Postecoglou than just his finishing ability, helping to give a focal point around which Tottenham’s other offensive talents can work.

Although the Lisbon native has yet to be tested at Premier League level, according to Opta’s Player Radars, he shares a statistical resemblance to current Newcastle United star, Alexander Isak, with the latter having thrived in his rookie season at St James’ Park.

Despite being limited by injury in the early stages of 2022/23, Isak – who Alasdair Gold identified as a player of interest to Spurs last summer – went on to score 10 goals in just 22 league appearances, leading Newcastle to Champions League qualifying.

To then find their own version of the 23-year-old in the form of Beto could allow Tottenham to realize their own top-four ambitions next season, with the pair notably similar due to their predatory penalty box instincts, with the pair ranking in the top 13% of their European peers for attacking penalty area touches.

Similarly, the two are similar in terms of their ability to defend from the front, with Beto rating in the top 40% for defensive actions and Isak standing in the top 36% following his excellent early effect on Tyneside.

With the latter set to be “worth £100m” in the future, according to talkSPORT’s Jason Cundy, perhaps the Udinese ace could see a similar stratospheric rise if he joins Postecoglou this summer.
