Tottenham Hotspur have been connected with Gleison Bremer several times in recent transfer windows.
With the Spurs supposedly wanting to improve their back line, talk is rife once more. According to a new Tuttosport report, Tottenham are now among the frontrunners to sign Bremer. According to Sport Witness, Spurs are ‘in the front row’ to sign the Juventus and Brazil star.
Tottenham reportedly has significant contacts over the prospective deal, and they are also in need of reinforcements.
Davinson Sanchez and Clement Lenglet‘s futures with the Spurs are unknown, thus they will need to replace them if they go.
Tottenham‘s management, according to the story, is keen to present a ‘great option’ to Ange Postecoglou. Spurs are apparently seeking for a ‘young, but ready’ center-back, and Bremer fits the bill. The list is claimed to include Marc Guehi, Micky van de Ven, and Edmond Tapsoba, among others.
Juve aren’t actively attempting to offload Bremer, but are ‘waiting for the ideal offer’ before parting ways with him.
In our opinion
It’s no surprise that the Spurs are still attempting to sign Bremer. He is, after all, a world-class defender in his prime.
He was named Serie A Defender of the Year in 2022, and he was named to their Team of the Season last season.
Bremer, in addition to being a brilliant defender, is noted for scoring the occasional goal.
Last season, the Brazil international scored five goals in all competitions, four of which came in Serie A.
In 2021, Torino manager Ivan Juric told DAZN – through Calciomercato -: “He always wants to score, he’s goal-obsessed.”Indeed, he was upset over missing shots (against Udinese in November).”
Bremer is also represented by the same agency, CAA Base, as Son Heung-min, Richarlison, and Pedro Porro.
The contacts are there, the need for him is there, and no big roadblocks appear to exist. This one appears to have legs as a transfer rumour.
