‘Say it to his face’… Chris Sutton fuming after what BBC pundit has said about Ange Postecoglou

Ever on account that the day Ange Postecoglou arrived at Tottenham, Chris Sutton has been one of his biggest fans.

The pundit has gone out to bat for Postecogloumore times than Joe Root has for England.

As a Celtic fan, Sutton has a real gentle spot for Postecoglou, and he’ll shield him to the hilt if he has to.

Speaking on BBC 606, Sutton obtained into a bit of an argument with Robbie Savage about Postecoglou as the two pundits had been discussing their Manager of the Season contenders.

Savage made the case for Rob Edwards, claiming that keeping Luton up is a bigger success than enjoying quite football with Tottenham in fifth-place.

Sutton, as you can imagine, used to be a long way from glad with this suggestion, and he had a dig at Savage for patronising the Spurs manager.

Chris Sutton no longer completely satisfied with Robbie Savage’s Ange Postecoglou comments

The two pundits had a bit of a spat over this situation.

“So Chris, Luton Town if they stay up under Rob Edwards is an great achievement, what’s better Rob Edwards retaining Luton up or Big Ange changing the way Spurs play, getting the ‘well done’ trophy and finishing fifth,” Savage said.

“Serious point, why are you patronising Ange Postecoglou? Would you say it to his face? Would you say well carried out for prevailing the properly performed trophy would you? No you wouldn’t. You have such a lack of grasp of the game, no marvel you’re nevertheless working at non-league level,” Sutton said.

Both have a point

This is a very fascinating debate due to the fact each men have a point here.

Postecoglou has made Spurs so plenty better on the pitch, that can’t be questioned, but, at the equal time, Spurs are solely fifth in the league, and that’s no longer in reality an improvement on what Antonio Conte or Jose Mourinho had been doing.

At the stop of the day, soccer is a effects business, and while Postecoglou has Tottenham moving in the proper direction, he’s now not absolutely delivered all that a lot success to Spurs yet.

In phrases of the Manager of the Season race, perhaps any one like Rob Edwards is nearer to accomplishing his goals this season than Postecoglou is.
