Rangers XI is expected to have a bare-bones backline that is completely opposed to forward switch-ups.

If nothing else, Philippe Clement has it easy.

For the trip to Dundee, the Rangers manager has so few defensive alternatives that his back line almost chooses itself. It was previously known that players such goalie Jack Butland, Neraysho Kasanwirjo, and John Souttar would not return. However, Clement also stated that James Tavernier, the captain, will also miss the team’s match against St Johnstone this weekend, along with Leon Balogun.

It’s truly bare bones time since Dujon Sterling is still doubtful after suffering a knock during the 3–3 draw with Hibs. Fortunately, Clement will at least have the Dutchman to rely upon against Tony Docherty’s team since Sky Sports misjudged Robin Propper’s ban, which would have prevented him from playing against the Dark Blues. But aside from him, the back four will be made up of whoever is available.

In any case, Ridvan Yilmaz will have to keep filling in at right back. Sterling will be needed in the center with Propper if he is cleared to play. If not, center backs like Clinton Nsiala or Leon King can be called up for a stay with the first team.

At least there is space for maneuvering farther ahead. After scoring a hat-trick at Easter Road, Hamza Igamane must start, but with the games coming up quickly, there may be rotation behind him.

Oscar Cortes may need additional playing time, while Nico Raskin, who is suspended, will be replaced by Connor Barron. Nedim Bajrami may drop to the bench and Ianis Hagi might shift infield if he is judged deserving of a start.
