Rangers’ newly appointed technical director, Nils Koppen, wasted no time in his role, scouting potential signings ahead of the January transfer window. During the international break, he personally assessed a key target.
Transfer Targets on Rangers’ Radar
Rangers are closely monitoring several players, including Peterborough United forward Kwame Poku and Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland. Additionally, Burnley captain Josh Brownhill has caught their eye. The 28-year-old midfielder, Burnley’s top scorer in the Championship this season with five goals, is out of contract next summer and has hinted at a potential move.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Brownhill stated:
“When it comes to the end of the year, the decision has to be made. Is it the right thing for me to stay? Is it the right thing for the club? While I’m playing well, enjoying my football, and scoring goals, I want to focus on that and see where it takes me.”
Koppen Scouts Motherwell’s Lennon Miller
Shortly after his appointment, Koppen personally traveled to Falkirk to watch Motherwell’s 18-year-old midfielder Lennon Miller captain Scotland’s U-19s in a 0-0 draw against France. According to The Scottish Sun, Miller is valued at £4 million and has attracted interest from major clubs, including Celtic, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Aston Villa.
“One of the objectives will still be to sign the best talents from Scotland to maintain our squad,” Koppen said, as reported by The Sun.
Who is Lennon Miller?
Miller, the son of former Aberdeen striker Lee Miller, came through Motherwell’s academy and made his senior debut in 2022 at just 16 years old, becoming the club’s youngest-ever player. With over 50 appearances for Motherwell, including 18 this season, he has already achieved recognition for his performances.
Last year, he was nominated for the SFWA Young Player of the Year and PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year awards. Currently, Miller is Motherwell’s joint top scorer this season with four goals.

Expert Praise
Legendary Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler recently lauded Miller on The Joy of Football Podcast, describing him as a promising talent capable of excelling in the English game. Tyler noted Miller’s ability to take free kicks, deliver corners, and pose a physical threat in set-piece situations due to his height.
With Koppen actively involved, Rangers appear committed to identifying and securing top young talent as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window.
