Rangers ‘peripheral figure’ who failed to make an impression against St Johnstone

Nicolas Raskin must have been keen to make an impact for Rangers last night, as he is now a ‘peripheral figure’

Michael Stewart claims the Belgian midfielder has been’starved of any real game time’ under Philippe Clement.

He joined in Michael Beale’s first transfer window over two years ago and began well, aiming to be an important player for the Ibrox club.

However, the 23-year-old has struggled to break into the starting XI under Clement.

He started in last night’s 2-0 Scottish Premiership victory over St Johnstone, but it appears that Connor Barron is the first choice with Mohamed Diomande.

Stewart was the co-commentator on Premier Sports for Sunday’s game.

And he does not believe Raskin did enough to persuade the manager that he should start matches on a regular basis.

The pundit stated, “Nicky Clark has just sat on top of Raskin, who has not really been able to get involved in the game.”

“He will be desperate to make an impact and get involved. He’s been deprived of any meaningful game time.

“In his first few months at Ibrox, he appeared to be a fantastic addition to Rangers’ roster.

“As you said injury has meant he’s never been able to nail down that position in the middle of the park and obviously Connor Barron has come in this season, he seems to be Philippe Clement’s number one man in the middle of the park.

“Raskin has just become a peripheral figure really.”

Jamie O’Hara utilizes a classic Jose Mourinho clip to react sarcastically to Tottenham’s 3-2 loss against Brighton

Tottenham imploded at Brighton & Hove Albion tonight, losing 3-2 and continuing their poor trend under Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham led by two goals at the break and appeared to be on track for a nice three points before the international break.

Brighton, on the other hand, came out blazing and absolutely silenced Dominic Solanke in the second half, ensuring a massive victory for them.

Tottenham continued to struggle with the same issues, and their defense was all over the place.

Jamie O’Hara, a self-confessed Tottenham fan and now pundit, took to X to vent his fury, using a gif of Jose Mourinho to summarize his annoyance.

Jamie O’Hara is upset with Tottenham at Brighton.

O’Hara expressed his feelings about Spurs on social media, including the now-famous video of Mourinho claiming he prefers not to talk about referees.

Same old Tottenham capitulates again

For all the good work Ange Postecoglou has done at Tottenham, the inconsistencies and defensive deficiencies on display must be frustrating for Spurs fans.

This was simply another example of where the term ‘Spursy’ originates from, and as the break approaches, they are still a long way from where they should be.

That first half should have put them out of sight, and the manager must be mystified by what Tottenham’s defenders are doing at moments.

Destiny Udogie had a nightmare opening the door, and Rodrigo Bentancur effectively backed out of the tackle that led to Danny Welbeck’s goal.

Over the next three months, Ange Postecoglou and his team must get a handle on the situation.

It will cost them a lot of money during the season, and with the top four being their goal, they appear to be falling short once more.

Ange Postecoglou rips into Spurs players following their 3-2 loss to Brighton

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou slammed his players after they suffered “the worst defeat” since he joined the club two summers ago. The 59-year-old stood on the Amex Stadium touchline, apparently stunned, as he saw his team collapse in the second half, giving up a dominant 2-0 lead at halftime

A classic example of ‘a game of two halves’ transpired as the Lilywhites, hungry to extend their five-match winning streak across all competitions, jumped to a 2-0 lead due to goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison, placing the contest firmly in the North Londoners’ hands. However, Brighton emerged as a transformed side in the second half, with Yankuba Minteh, Georginio Rutter, and the former Arsenal

Postecoglou took some time to emerge from the changing room before speaking to the reporters. When he eventually did, he didn’t lift his gaze for the whole of the interview, showing a man still reeling from the weight of such a crushing defeat. As the October international break approaches, Tottenham is currently in 9th place, eight places lower than they were at this time last year.

Postecoglou Slams Tottenham Side

He blamed a mental condition for Sunday’s rapid downturn.

When asked about the drop in performance during the second half, Postecoglou issued a sharp judgment. He informed Sky Sports:

When pressed to expand on what he meant by ‘getting carried away’, he claimed it was a mental issue, adding: “We kind of accepted our fate, which is difficult to understand since we haven’t done that since I’ve been here. We’ve generally argued over everything. When you don’t, you pay a price, which we did.

What’s Next for Tottenham

The wider perspective suggests that not all hope is lost for Spurs.

Some perspective is required on Tottenham’s current condition. Under Postecoglou, there’s no doubting that the Lilywhites have made great progress toward getting back on track. While opposition fans frequently mock their former history, alleging that late-game failures are their constant nemesis, this myth has been mostly debunked under their new leadership.

After a slow start to the season, Tottenham’s form has gradually improved. As previously stated, they were on a five-game winning streak in all competitions before Sunday evening. With players like Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski settling into previously unfamiliar roles, the upcoming games against West Ham, AZ Alkmaar, and Crystal Palace provide a solid platform for them to recover after the international break, as they are still only four points away from Champions League qualification.
