Rangers’ nerves jangle after the £50 million deal falls through, but Hamza Igamane wins the top prize.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has made it clear that he wants Hamza Igamane to remain at Ibrox for the foreseeable future.

The 22-year-old Moroccan striker has quickly made an impact at Rangers after joining from FAR Rabat in the summer for what now seems like a bargain fee of £1.7m. His early performances have already drawn attention from the Premier League.

Despite the interest, one of the most prominent reported suitors appears to have shifted focus. Tottenham Hotspur, who had been linked with Igamane, now seem to be pursuing other options.

While Igamane’s talent began to shine through in his early games, it was his goal against Tottenham that really caught the eye. After scoring a brace against OGC Nice in the Europa League, he struck again with a brilliant finish from a James Tavernier cross against Spurs. This has led to continuous speculation about Spurs targeting him, especially amid their injury crisis.

However, recent reports suggest that Spurs are now looking elsewhere, with The Athletic indicating they are focusing on Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel. Spurs are reportedly considering a €60 million (£50.2m) move for the former Rennes striker, who has seen limited playing time in Germany this season.

Hamza Igamane has also been linked with Everton, with reports from Italy suggesting they are close to making a move for the striker. Nonetheless, Igamane has expressed contentment with his situation at Rangers. He confirmed he’s happy at Ibrox, where he feels fully supported to focus on his footballing growth.

“I’m happy here in Scotland,” said Igamane. “Everything I need is available. I want to thank the Rangers officials for creating an ideal environment for me to focus solely on football and my performance. I don’t feel like a foreigner here, even though I’m far from Morocco.”

He also emphasized his commitment to continuous development, with an eye on one day representing the Moroccan national team. “I aim to maintain my progress and show that I’m always working to reach my goals, and I hope to soon have the honor of playing for my country.”
