Beşiktaş remain in negotiations with Rangers over a potential deal to bring Ridvan Yilmaz back to the club, according to *Sabah*.
The Turkish newspaper reported in its print edition on Friday (31 January, page 15) that Rangers have set a £4.1 million price tag for the 23-year-old left-back. However, Beşiktaş have made it clear that they are only willing to offer £2.5 million and are not prepared to meet the Scottish club’s valuation.
Yilmaz Spotted in Turkey Amid Transfer Speculation
Yilmaz has missed Rangers’ last two matches, and just before their victory against Dundee United on Sunday (26 January), he was seen in Turkey after flying out of Scotland.
While Rangers manager Philippe Clement has stated that Yilmaz is sidelined due to injury, rumors about his future at Ibrox continue to circulate.
This uncertainty is hardly surprising given that Yilmaz has lost his place in the starting lineup to Jefte, the promising young Brazilian who has emerged as one of Scottish football’s brightest talents.
Underwhelming Impact at Rangers
There were high expectations for Yilmaz when he arrived from Beşiktaş in 2022, but in two and a half years, he has struggled to prove himself a significant upgrade over Borna Barisic
Considering Rangers’ style of play—where full-backs like Barisic and James Tavernier have contributed heavily to goals and assists—Yilmaz’s statistics appear underwhelming. In 68 appearances across all competitions, he has managed just two goals and five assists.
While attacking output isn’t the sole measure of a left-back’s quality, Yilmaz has largely been average or below expectations.
If he is sold before the Turkish transfer window closes on 11 February, his departure is unlikely to be seen as a major loss for Rangers.
