Rangers and Celtic are expected to resolve their away support disagreement as a “major breakthrough” before their match at Parkhead.

Celtic and Rangers are reportedly making progress in discussions about reintroducing away fans for their upcoming Old Firm clash next month. Interim Rangers manager Barry Ferguson will lead his team to Parkhead on Sunday, March 16, with Rangers currently 13 points behind Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic at the top of the Premiership, following their dramatic 4-2 comeback win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

According to **The Sun**, both clubs are close to finalizing an agreement that would allow Rangers supporters to occupy the away section at Celtic Park next month. It is believed that approximately 2,500 tickets will be allocated to Rangers fans, although sales have not yet begun. Reports suggest that fan groups from both clubs have been informed about these developments, indicating positive progress in the negotiations.

No away fans have attended an Old Firm match since the 2-2 draw at Ibrox in January 2023. Since then, eight fixtures between the rivals have been played with home supporters only. An initial agreement to reinstate away fans at derby games was reached at the start of the current season, but Celtic later withdrew from the arrangement. This was due to concerns over Ibrox’s capacity to accommodate away fans for the January 2 fixture, following extensive repairs to the Copland Stand over the summer and early months of the campaign.
