Another player who was predicted to join Rangers was cruelly denied the opportunity to impress his prospective employers, while one of the emerging stars of the Scottish Premiership aced his Ibrox audition.
Although Rangers have not yet shown interest in the latter, Mulligan’s most recent impressive performance as Dundee defeated Philippe Clement’s squad at Ibrox certainly cannot be compared to his Dens Park comrade.
Rangers are reportedly in the lead to recruit Lyall Cameron under a pre-contract agreement in the summer of 2025, similar to the agreement that brought Aberdeen’s Connor Barron to Glasgow a year earlier. Additionally, manager Tony Docherty did not allay the supporters’ anxieties. Docherty claims that Cameron is weighing his options at Dundee and that a contract extension seems increasingly improbable for a football player who is outgrowing a pretty tiny pond.
Tony Docherty is certain that Dundee star Lyall Cameron won’t be distracted by Rangers connections. A few days later, Docherty gave an update on the Scotland Under-21 international, saying that although Cameron has recovered from a “nasty illness” that prevented him from playing against Rangers, his primary suitor, a statement on a possible move is still far off.
He continues to play Dundee. Ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Cup matchup with bitter rivals Dundee United, Docherty states, “He is very much focused [on his current employers].” “Everything else is conjecture; he is still a Dundee player who is eager for a Dundee derby.”
The 53-year-old is also certain that Cameron, who has contributed seven assists and eight goals this season, won’t let the Rangers connections divert his attention from his work. Docherty continues, “Lyall is a really level-headed young man and he has brilliant representation as well.” Therefore, he is surrounded by the right people and support system.
More than that, though, I am really impressed with Lyall’s character and approach to life. Therefore, there should be no worry whatsoever about that.
