Paris Saint-Germain are regarded to be ahead of Manchester United in the hunt to sign Kim Min-jae this summer
That is according to The Telegraph, which claims that Napoli has now offered Kim a new contract.
The South Korean defender’s current deal includes a release clause worth roughly £50 million.
After a fantastic first season in Italy, Napoli wants to change that, either by boosting the value of the release clause or by eliminating it entirely.
Despite interest from Premier League clubs, PSG are now said to be the ‘frontrunners’ to recruit Kim.
There are currently no bids on the table, but Napoli appears to be concerned about losing Kim at his current release clause value.
PSG is undergoing another transformation, and with Marco Asensio already on his way to Paris, Kim is again in demand.
Manchester United cannot afford to lose Kim Min-jae.
In recent months, there have been numerous rumors linking Kim to Manchester United.
According to Sky Sports News, United has now made it crystal plain to Kim’s representatives that they intend to sign him this summer.
United fans have been there many times before; interest is obvious, but United – for lack of a better description – faff around too much and lose out.
With PSG expressing interest in signing Kim, the worry of a duplicate situation will rise.
This is an offer that United just cannot afford to pass on, especially at a price tag of roughly £50 million.
Kim can be Lisandro Martinez’s long-term partner, offering the right and left-foot partnership Ten Hag desires.
Raphael Varane may be that guy, but his injury record indicates that United is searching for a more reliable option, such as Kim.
United may prefer to focus on a new striker over another center back, but the price for Kim is so low that Ten Hag and co will be disappointed if PSG swoops in.
