Celtic FC Women defeated Partick Thistle thanks to Murphy Agnew’s strike and Shannon McGregor’s superb brace. Elena Sadiku has made an excellent signing.

Shannon got Celtic off to the perfect start by heading in at the back post with just one minute on the clock from the tightest of angles at Kirkintilloch Rob Roy’s home.

Our Ghirls kept the pressure on, hoping for more goals to add to their total, which came in the second half.

On the hour mark, McGregor scored twice with a beautifully hit long-range strike. She got the goalkeeper off her line and sent it into the bottom corner.

With 13 minutes remaining, one of our new signings made her Hoops debut, replacing McGregor with Emma Lawton. She didn’t have much to do against her former team, but she did contribute to her new team’s victory.

Here are Elena Sadiku’s post-match thoughts…

Celtic now sits fourth in the Scottish Women’s Premier League, two points behind Rangers, Hearts, and Glasgow City after winning three games. We have the opportunity to make a statement at Links Park when all eyes are on us, thanks to our participation in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this weekend.

Celtic and the Rangers have a game in hand because they both competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and the Champions have a thrilling double header coming up after the trip to Links Park.

Tickets for the two Champions League games against FC Vorskla Poltava are now on sale on the official Celtic website.

This weekend’s SWPL1 results: Hearts 3-0 Aberdeen, Hibs 6-1 Queen’s Park, and Montrose 2-1 Dundee United.
Motherwell defeated Glasgow City 0-1 in Partick. Thistle 0–3 Celtic defeated the Spartans 6-1.

And this is how the table appears. After the second game against Montrose, Celtic FC Women will face the Rangers at the beginning of October.
