According to Andrea Di Carlo, Roma forward Ola Solbakken will join Olympiacos on transfer deadline day rather than joining Leeds United at the last minute
The journalist for Il Romanista tweeted on Thursday [31 August] that Solbakken would be joining the Greek squad on an initial loan with a €4.5 million (£3.9 million) buyout option.

In a second tweet, Di Carlo explained that Solbakken turned down a move to Leeds in favor of Athens, where he is set to travel early on Friday [1 September] to complete a physical and sign a contract.
Solbakken is due to arrive in Athens at 11:15 a.m. for medical checkups with Olympiakos; according to Di Carlo, the loan with an option to purchase is valued at 4.5 million euros.
“Flight confirmed; signatures required after medical checks.” The player opted for the Greek club over Leeds, who made a (late) bid.

There are numerous choices.
Leeds began talks with Roma on Thursday, August 31, in an attempt to persuade Solbakken to join them rather than Olympiacos [Daily Mail].
Although it is impossible to establish, Leeds’ interest may have coincided with recent allegations that indicate Luis Sinisterra is still a target for Everton [Phil Hay], while Wilfried Gnonto’s future remains uncertain.
The Norwegian international, who played 14 Serie A games for Roma under Jose Mourinho last season, was never thought to be part of a trade.

Solbakken will instead play European football at Olympiacos this season if there are no last-minute hitches with personal terms and a physical.
Leeds’ inability to entice the Norwegian to Elland Road, on the other hand, is far from a disaster given the presence of Sinisterra, Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Ian Poveda, and Daniel James in their offensive ranks right now.
If all of those players remain at the club when the transfer window closes, United will have more than enough firepower to compete for promotion.
