The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as a deal for the midfielder could go down to the wire before the 11pm deadline
Nottingham Forest may struggle to complete a deal for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare before the deadline, according to reports.
As the hours tick past, English clubs have till 11 p.m. to wrap up their affairs. Forest are closing in on a deal for Sangare, who has been Steve Cooper’s main target all summer.
However, because the deal is dependent on another deal getting through, it may be close to the deadline. Sky Sports reports that the midfielder will have a medical with Forest when he arrives in London this afternoon.
A transfer agreement with PSV is claimed to have been in place for “some time,” but it is contingent on the proceeds from Brennan Johnson’s likely transfer to Tottenham. After agreeing to a sum of more than £40 million plus add-ons, the academy graduate is on his way to Spurs for a physical. The proceeds from the transaction are expected to bankroll Sangare’s £30 million transfer.
As a result of Financial Fair Play concerns, a delay in Johnson’s sale could present ‘issues’ for Forest’s prospects of concluding a deal for Sangare before the 11pm deadline. If a transfer deadline approaches, the Reds will be allowed to make a transfer request.
Forest were also connected with a move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, but their pursuit of Sangare suggests that the Reds may abandon their pursuit of the Nigerian, considering that the two players play in the same position.
