Newcastle United are now interested in signing winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ahead of a number of clubs, including Liverpool
Liverpool were said to be leading the race to capture the Napoli winger last month.
He joined them for £10 million in the summer but is considered to be worth £50 million if he leaves the Serie A club.
According to the Times, Newcastle has now moved him up their list of transfer priorities.
Newcastle is interested in Kvaratskhelia.
They report that the Magpies have scouted the winger extensively and have now gone on to character checks.
Newcastle have been connected with a wide forward throughout the summer, and James Maddison is another name that has been mentioned frequently in that position.
Napoli want to sign him to a new deal, and Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the 21-year-old.
“The guy is breathtaking to watch, he’s only 21 years old, only cost 10 million euros, but plays on the left wing, (he’s) two-footed, he’s got goals and assists galore,” BT Sport commentator Owen Hargreaves said last month of the forwasrd.
“Everyone that he plays against he pretty much terrorises, he’s quick, technically he’s good, he can use both feet, he’s a good finisher.
“It’s incredible that he’s playing at this level at this age; he already looks like a typical Champions League player.”

Cunha is a fan of ours, and we believed Liverpool would sign him back in 2021. Despite the fact that Hertha BSC was fighting relegation at the time, he was shining brightly.

Then we’d want to see Liverpool try Cunha for six months. There doesn’t appear to be anything at stake.
